Kimiko Tanaka, Ph.D

Andrew is a senior at James Madison University, where he is studying history, secondary education, the interdisciplinary social sciences, and Asian studies. In addition to this independent study, Andrew is working on his honors thesis and on completing his requirements for teacher licensure. Andrew will graduate in Spring 2016 with honors and will enter the Graduate School at James Madison University to pursure a Masters of Arts, Teaching (MAT). 

Dr. Tanaka is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at James Madison University. She recieved both her MA and Ph.D from Michigan State University, and her BA from the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Tanaka's  research interests are related to amily Demography, Aging and the Life Course, Culture of Death and Dying, Research Methods, Sociology of Health and Illness. At James Madison University, Dr. Tanaka has taught classes in Social Gerontology, Medical Sociology, Japanese Society and Culture, Family Sociology, Demography. Dr. Tanaka has published several articles, including:
